Galatasaray tell Tottenham and Arsenal how much late Victor Osimhen deal will cost

Tottenham Hotspur may be able to sign Victor Osimhen for a much lower fee than what some sources have suggested over recent days.

While Spurs are prioritising deals for Cody Gakpo and Savinho at the moment, they are also expected to sign a number nine.

Some sources have claimed over the past few days that Tottenham are making progress on a deal for Osimhen, who could leave Galatasaray before the window slams shut.

However, Tottenham face competition from their North London rivals, with Arsenal alleged to have discussed a move for the Nigerian with Galatasaray while holding talks over Gabriel Martinelli’s potential move to the Turkish club.

Tottenham target Victor Osimhen is available for over £60m

A couple of days ago, journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed that even Al-Hilal’s €130m (£111m) offer for Osimhen has not been accepted by Galatasaray.

Arsenal’s interest in the 27-year-old is backed up by a new report in Football Insider, who say that the Gunners could substantiate their interest in the player soon.

The outlet says that Mikel Arteta’s men could make a ‘concrete offer’ for Osimhen, but any deal to take him to the Emirates would have to be done separately to the Martinelli one.

Interestingly, the outlet reveals that the Premier League champions have been informed by Galatasaray that they have to offer over £60m for the former Napoli man.

That is a substantially lower fee than what Plettenberg has reported, but the deal comes with a catch.

Osimhen’s salary may be the real problem for Spurs

Football Insider also spoke to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who told the website that the striker could indeed be available for a relatively modest transfer fee this summer.

However, he explained that what makes the operation extremely expensive is Osimhen’s wage demands, with the striker currently earning over £300,000-a-week at Istanbul.

When asked about Arsenal’s pursuit of the striker, O’Rourke said: “Yeah, the overall package of the deal is probably where it’ll really cost. I think the transfer fee won’t be too high. You’re probably looking at £60m plus, I think that Galatasaray would accept for him, but he’s on a huge deal over there in Turkey. I think it’s over £300,000 a week.

“So yeah, it would be a large outlay for Arsenal if they do go ahead and sign Osimhen. Really exciting move if they do bring him in because he’s been linked with moves to the Premier League for such a long time now, and nothing’s really ever happened with him before.”
