Gareth Bale makes positive prediction for Tottenham’s season after four goalless games

Gareth Bale has backed Tottenham’s form to improve this season but has urged supporters to lower their expectations when it comes to their final league position.

After an unbeaten pre‑season in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur have not had a start to the 26/27 campaign that mirrors their pre‑season form.

Spurs have managed just one win all season, and it came in round two of the Carabao Cup, when they beat Championship side Charlton Athletic 5-1.

In the Premier League, Tottenham’s start has been abysmal, with the Lilywhites yet to win a game or score a goal.

Gareth Bale convinced Tottenham will improve after slow start

Gareth Bale, speaking to Sky Sports, has now shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s poor start to the 26/27 season.

Spurs underwent a summer of major changes in terms of signings, with as many as ten players coming through the door, while several other established stars were moved on.

However, the former Tottenham winger believes things will change on the pitch, but a slow start is not entirely surprising given the changes made.

When asked if Spurs will be okay moving forward, he said: “Yeah, I think so.

“A lot of new signings. Sometimes it takes time to settle in. The manager has shown he is capable of playing good football. I think he still has the trust of everybody.

“Just a lot of new signings, it takes a bit of time. I am sure they will come good, just give them a bit of time.”

Bale urges Tottenham fans to lower expectations

Before the season started, many pundits tipped Tottenham to finish in the European places.

However, after four games, Spurs find themselves hovering above the relegation zone in 17th, having managed two points from a possible 12.

The gap between the Lilywhites and the European spots is increasing, as they look set to be engulfed in another relegation dogfight.

Bale, when asked about Tottenham’s chances of finishing in a European spot, urged fans to lower their expectations.

He said: “Hopefully. I think the expectations probably need to be lowered a little bit considering that we finished 17th twice in a row, so I think an improvement obviously was needed, and they have got the players to do that. So, yeah, let us hope they gel soon and get going.”
