Pedro Porro has spoken about his decision to sign a new long-term deal with Tottenham Hotspur after the club stayed up by the skin of their teeth last season.

Spurs have wasted no time in rebuilding their squad this summer, with the Lilywhites being one of the busiest clubs across Europe so far this transfer window.

Tottenham have spent £237m on six new additions to their squad, but one of the most important pieces of business they have done is tying down the future of a key player.

Porro was linked with moves to Real Madrid and Man City earlier this summer, but the right-back has chosen instead to commit his long-term future to the Lilywhites.

Pedro Porro reflects on signing a new Tottenham contract

The Spain international extended his deal until 2030, and is set to be a key part of Roberto De Zerbi’s project in North London.

While the 26-year-old remains focused on guiding his nation to the World Cup trophy at the moment, he confessed that he feels very well taken care of at Spurs.

When asked about his new contract, Porro told ElDesmarque: “Right now, I’m only focused on the World Cup. I’m very happy about the renewal. It was a very important moment in my career, and I honestly felt very supported by Tottenham, which says a lot about them.”

High likelihood that a Spurs player will be a World Champion

Porro has demonstrated that he is one of the best right-backs in the world, with his impressive showing at the World Cup so far.

If the Tottenham man helps Spain overcome France in the semifinal on Wednesday, a Spurs player is guaranteed to be a World Champion.

The other two semifinalists, England and Argentina, also have Tottenham representation, with the former having Djed Spence in their ranks, and the reigning world champions having Cristian Romero and new Spurs signing Marcos Senesi.
