Fabrizio Romano has now revealed Tottenham Hotspur’s stance on a potential sale of Pedro Porro amid interest from both Real Madrid and Manchester City.

While Tottenham Hotspur are focused on improving the quality of their squad this summer transfer window, they will also be looking not to weaken it further.

Roberto De Zerbi already made it clear that despite Spurs’ struggles last season, there are still 10 to 12 players good enough to remain at the club.

He said following the Everton game on the final day of the 2025-26 season: “From tonight, we need to build the new team. We don’t need to change too many players. We have 10/11/12 players who are good enough to stay as players and people.

“Now we need to complete the squad with the first level of players because I suffered too much, but so did the players, the board and the fans, and we can’t suffer like this as Tottenham Hotspur.”

De Zerbi further revealed some of the names he wants to keep at Spurs. He added when speaking about a potential rebuild: “Because I want to build two players in each position. But for sure, I would like him[Palhinha] to stay with me. Like Conor Gallagher and Rodrigo Bentancur, the same.”

Spurs Web has since gone on to predict the 10-12 players De Zerbi might well keep in north London as Tottenham embark on their rebuild.

Tottenham’s stance on Pedro Porro transfer revealed

However, it now looks like one of those players is attracting interest from European heavyweights. We have reported that Real Madrid is interested in signing Pedro Porro this summer.

The Spanish outfit is not alone in their pursuit, with Manchester City also keen on landing Porro.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed Spurs’ stance amid the interest from both European sides ahead of the summer window.

It is explained that Tottenham do not want to sell Pedro Porro this summer and will do their best to keep him in north London. It is understood that Porro is seen as a key player under De Zerbi and the club’s management.

Romano tweeted: “Understand Tottenham do not want to sell Pedro Porro this summer. Despite Real Madrid looking at him and Man City links, #THFC will do their best to keep Porro. Seen as key player by De Zerbi and the management.”

Spurs face challenge to keep Pedro Porro

It is going to be difficult for Tottenham to keep Madrid at bay, given their status in world football. Spurs’ track record when doing business with Los Blancos also does not inspire much confidence that they would be able to fend off Jose Mourinho’s side.

Tottenham have not always been able to prevent Real Madrid from signing their world-class talents.

Gareth Bale was sold during Daniel Levy‘s reign as chairman, and so too was Luka Modric, with the pair going on to achieve great things with Los Blancos.

Porro is Spanish, and the desire to move to one of the biggest clubs in Spain remains a dream for most Spanish internationals, but Tottenham will be hoping they can convince the 26-year-old to stay put.
