Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been left spilt after fresh reports linked Pedro Porro with a move to Real Madrid, as interest from across Europe continues to grow in the full-back ahead of the summer window.

Pedro Porro is one man who has been attracting interest from a few of Europe’s heavyweights ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spurs Web first reported Manchester City’s interest in Porro this summer, but it now appears another European giant has entered the race for the Spaniard.

Porro, who is World Cup-bound, is now said to be on the radar of Spanish giants Real Madrid, who are keen on adding another full-back to their squad.

This comes after former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was confirmed as the next manager of Los Blancos, although it is worth noting he never worked with Porro during his time at Tottenham.

Tottenham fans react as Real Madrid enter Pedro Porro transfer race

Porro has often received criticism from Spurs fans for his defending, with the full-back frequently struggling to deal with back-post situations.

He also struggles to keep pace with tricky wingers, although he remains an asset in possession given his elite passing and crossing ability.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, there is no denying that the full-back looked much better, with Spurs fans describing Porro as ‘one of the best right-backs’ in the world following his impressive display against Everton.

Supporters of the Lilywhites have now taken to social media to react to the latest reports of Real Madrid interest. One fan said: “Madrid and City want him but he’s not good enough for us no?” Another added: “We lose him and we’re cooked, he’s literally the whole project.”

Others joked, commenting: “They can take him and we take Trent 👍” while others feared a sale would set the club back for years: “Losing Romero and Porro in the same window sets us back years! They’re vital to our build-up.”

Another Tottenham fan feared Porro might be on his way out: “Ah yeah we need a new RB then. If an offer comes in, he’s going. No one turns down Madrid 🫩”

One supporter joked: “Swap with Mbappe and £50m and WE might consider it.” Others, however, did not mind the idea of selling the full-back. One fan stated: “A player I’d hate to lose, but if we sell him and Romero that would bring well over £100m to reinvest on top of what sounds like will be a pretty robust budget. Spence can start under RDZ.”

One more Tottenham fan commented: “I think I’ve been too harsh on him. Very good player. Would need like £60m.”

Pedro Porro addresses transfer speculation amid interest from Real Madrid and Man City

While Tottenham are embarking on a rebuild, it is vital for them to keep the spine of their squad, as selling key players could set them back further.

Porro remains one such key player at Tottenham, with very few in the squad capable of replicating the qualities he offers.

The Spanish full-back himself has addressed the transfer speculation in recent weeks, saying: “I have a contract with Tottenham,” he said.

“I haven’t even had time to glance over it. We have been focused until the last minute. I do not want to hear anything; I want to switch off and enjoy myself.”
