Manchester City are looking to hand Roberto De Zerbi a massive blow by poaching one of Tottenham’s most important players ahead of the new season.
De Zerbi has stressed the need for Spurs to add more quality to their squad this summer, with the Italian indicating that the Lilywhites have only 10 or 12 players of the required level.
There are some big-name exits on the cards too, with Tottenham captain Cristian Romero being widely backed to move to Spain.
It has now emerged that a Premier League giant is pushing ahead with a move to sign another one of Spurs’ defensive stalwarts.

Man City are keen on Pedro Porro
Pedro Porro was hailed by Spurs fans as one of the best right-backs in the world after his strong end to the season, but the Lilywhites may be in danger of losing the Spaniard.
This is according to AS, who say that Spurs have held talks with the full-back over a contract extension, but have been unable to convince him to sign on the dotted line so far.
This has opened the door for Man City, who have set their sights on Porro as the man to solve their recurring issues at right-back.
In fact, it is revealed that City have already initiated contact regarding a deal for the 26-year-old, wanting to secure a deal before the World Cup gets underway.
Porro previously spent three years on City’s books but failed to make a single senior appearance.
Spurs have named their asking price for Pedro Porro
AS say that City are now prepared to make a push for the former Sporting Lisbon man, and Tottenham are aware of the Manchester club’s interest.
The Lilywhites have not given up on their hopes of hanging onto Porro, and they have made it clear that a ‘significant effort will be required’ to land him.
Tottenham are said to have informed interested clubs that it would take £50m to prise the Spanish international away from N17.
