Roma could hand Tottenham Hotspur a double blow this summer after qualifying for the Champions League.

Spurs are reportedly close to securing Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers to kick off their major summer rebuild.

The Lilywhites still have a lot of work to do, with De Zerbi making it clear that Tottenham need quality additions this summer to avoid another season near the bottom end of the table.

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are looking to poach Crysencio Summerville after West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, but it has now emerged that the Lilywhites may face competition from an Italian giant.

AS Roma are keen on beating Tottenham to Crysencio Summerville

According to a report in Solo La Roma (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tony D’Amico is imminently set to join as Roma’s sporting director, and he is ready to start work strengthening their squad ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League next season.

One of the names at the top of the Giallorossi’s list is Summerville, who is admired by manager Gian Piero Gasperini as he goes about building a new attack for next season.

However, West Ham’s asking price may be a problem for the Serie A club, with the Hammers allegedly wanting more than €30m (£26m) that the Italian side are willing to pay.

Roma’s pursuit of the Dutchman affects Tottenham in more ways than one, as the Hammers man is not the only attacker on Gasperini’s wishlist.

Roma are also eyeing a move for Spurs’ Mathys Tel

Solo La Roma explain that another attacker on the Serie A club’s wishlist is Mathys Tel, who had a strong end to the season with Tottenham.

The Frenchman is viewed as an ‘ideal’ replacement for Donyell Malen, with Roma seeing him as someone who would elevate the technical quality they have upfront.

The outlet claims that Tottenham value the former Bayern Munich man at €25m (£21.6m). This report comes just days after it emerged that Tel has sought guarantees of a key role under De Zerbi to stay at Spurs.
