Sandro Tonali says ‘yes’ to Tottenham transfer: Newcastle talks are all that remain

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to work on a deal for Newcastle star Sandro Tonali, and they are making progress.

Over the last couple of days, the headlines have been dominated by Tottenham’s attempts to beat Man United to Mateus Fernandes, with the Lilywhites’ talks with West Ham advancing.

However, Fabrizio Romano assured Spurs fans a couple of days ago that Spurs are also continuing to work on the Tonali deal.

Roberto De Zerbi reportedly views the Newcastle star as a ‘priority target’, and Spurs may have just taken a big step towards landing the player.

Sandro Tonali has said ‘yes’ to Tottenham move

Over the last week, some British outlets have said that Tonali is open to uniting with De Zerbi at Spurs, with the pair having a very good relationship.

Now, Sky Sports Italia have backed this up, claiming that the Italy international has greenlit a move from the North East to North London.

The outlet added that negotiations between Tottenham and Newcastle continue regarding a deal for the former AC Milan man.

Why Spurs may have slowed down their pursuit of Tonali

It has emerged over recent days that Man City are not planning to enter the race for Tonali after landing Elliot Anderson, while Arsenal have not shown an interest in the Newcastle man either.

That means Tottenham are in a strong negotiating position, being the only club to show serious interest in the 26-year-old, and they can afford to play the waiting game to get the Magpies to drop their valuation.

With Man United continuing to offer competition to Spurs for Fernandes, it is not hard to understand why the Lilywhites are concentrating on trying to agree a deal for the West Ham man first.
