Tottenham’s interest in Daniel Munoz has hit an early hurdle, with the Crystal Palace defender weighing up whether a move to North London would give him the regular football he wants.
As the 2026 summer transfer window enters its final week, Tottenham are pushing hard to bring attacking reinforcements through the door, most recently completing an £85m move for Savinho from Manchester City.
Spurs are still expected to make at least two more signings, with Omar Marmoush and Cody Gakpo currently the most advanced targets, although the club could also look to strengthen elsewhere before the deadline.
Djed Spence’s £30m move to Inter Milan has left Tottenham short of natural right backs, with Pedro Porro currently the only senior option in that position and Archie Gray able to provide cover despite being primarily a midfielder.
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe revealed last week that Crystal Palace star Daniel Munoz is on Roberto De Zerbi’s radar, with the Colombian expected to cost Spurs somewhere around £20m. We now have an update on that situation.

Daniel Munoz to Tottenham looks unlikely after Pierre Sage’s latest comments
According to Football Insider, Munoz would have reservations about joining Tottenham because he is unsure whether he would be guaranteed a starting place.
Pedro Porro is currently De Zerbi’s first choice at right back, meaning Munoz would find himself as the Spaniard’s backup if he signs for Tottenham. That is a concern for the 30-year-old, who has been a regular starter since joining Crystal Palace in 2024.
Munoz is still reportedly expected to attract interest given his impressive numbers in the Premier League across the last two and a half years, helped by the fact that Palace have also signed two players this summer who can play in his position.
However, the report adds that the Colombia international is not currently a priority target for Tottenham, with the club’s focus firmly on attacking additions.
Moreover, Palace boss Pierre Sage has also recently made it clear that Munoz remains part of his plans, saying: “I hear the noise, but he is happy to be with us, and we are happy he is here.”
What has Roberto De Zerbi said about signing a right back?
De Zerbi was asked ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Brentford whether Spurs would bring in another right back before the transfer window closes, following Djed Spence’s departure.
“In this moment, I think no..” The Italian responded.
“Right-back is, I think in this moment, one, maybe the best, maybe one of the three best right backs in the world [in Pedro Porro].
“We have Archie Gray. He prefers playing in the midfield position, but he can play very well also as a right-back.
“I think we are good. I don’t want 25, 26 players, I want 21, 22 players, I think that’s enough, especially if these players or more players, they can adapt in more positions on the pitch, and I think we have many players who can play in different positions.
“Gray midfielder, right back, Gallagher number 10 or number 8. It’s the same (with) Micky van de Ven or Ben Davies (who can also play) left back. I think we have Kudus, winger or number 10, we have a lot of solutions.”
