Tottenham have been handed an injury blow as James Maddison races against time to be fit for the Brentford clash.
Spurs Web recently revealed that Tottenham Hotspur currently have eight players whose fitness levels are not exactly at their peak, with just two weeks left before the Premier League kicks off.
Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie are among the players whose fitness remains in doubt, having yet to kick a ball in pre-season for Spurs.
Meanwhile, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons remain long-term absentees as they continue to recover from ACL injuries.

Tottenham handed James Maddison fitness update ahead of Brentford
Spurs received a boost earlier this month with Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski making a long-awaited return to the training ground.
However, James Maddison‘s fitness remains a concern, with the Englishman yet to make a single appearance this pre-season, just like Udogie and van de Ven, despite being part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad that toured Australia.
The Spurs head coach revealed earlier this month that Maddison was nursing a minor injury, prompting Tottenham to take a cautious approach with the midfielder.
Now, Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed that the 29-year-old has a hip issue which the club are carefully managing.
He added that it is a recurrence of an old injury, leaving it unclear whether Maddison will be fit enough to feature in the squad against Brentford.
Writing on X, O’Keefe said: “James Maddison has a hip issue which Tottenham are managing. It’s a reoccurrence of an old injury. Hopeful he makes Brentford squad.”
Spurs have options if Maddison misses out
Spurs kick off their Premier League campaign against Brentford on 22 August away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Maddison will be a big miss, but Spurs do have the depth to cover for the Englishman’s absence.
Roberto De Zerbi has turned to Conor Gallagher in the number 10 role during pre-season, and it looks like the former Atletico Madrid midfielder could be in line to start there once the Premier League campaign gets underway.
