There have been new developments in the race for Ferran Torres’ future after Tottenham expressed an interest in the Barcelona forward.

Spurs were 24 hours away from making a big offer for Eli Junior Kroupi when they were hit with the news that the Bournemouth star had picked up a foot injury, which will rule him out for three to four months.

This has forced the Lilywhites to identify alternatives, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side speaking with intermediaries about a potential move for Torres.

Some contradictory updates have now emerged about the former Manchester City man, who scored the match-winning goal for Spain in the World Cup final a couple of weeks ago.

PSG holding talks with Tottenham target Ferran Torres

Tottenham may have to act fast to win the race for the 26-year-old, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that PSG have now held a new round of talks the forward’s camp.

The journalist revealed that Barcelona are hoping to keep the Spain international at the club, but the decision will ultimately be made by the player.

Romano wrote on X: “Paris Saint-Germain had new round of talks with Ferran Torres’ camp and decision will be in player’s hands. Barcelona hope to keep Ferran but it’s up to the player. Doors opened to negotiations with PSG only if Ferran decides to leave.”

Spurs make fresh contact with Torres but PSG in pole position

TEAMtalk are carrying different information to Romano regarding Baca’s stance, stating that the Catalan club are now ready to cash in on the forward after failing to agree personal terms with him.

The report says that despite ‘fresh contact’ from Tottenham Hotspur and continued interest from Arsenal, the Parisians are ‘firmly in pole position’ to land the player.

PSG are now making ‘significant progress’ in a deal for Torres after Luis Enrique personally spoke to the 26-year-old.
