Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced Pape Matar Sarr’s loan move to Juventus, and it includes a conditional obligation to buy.
Pape Sarr has not played in any of Tottenham’s games this season, and Roberto De Zerbi admitted after the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United that the Senegal international is free to leave before the September 1 deadline.
The 23-year-old has not been short of suitors throughout the summer, with Spurs Web previously reporting that late offers could arrive from clubs including Aston Villa, Brentford, Al Ahli, Monaco and Galatasaray.
Sarr reportedly even agreed personal terms with the Turkish champions, who have also been working towards a final agreement with Tottenham.
Juventus then emerged as a surprise destination for the former Metz man in recent hours and quickly made significant progress.
Juventus formalise Pape Matar Sarr offer
Less than 24 hours ago, Spurs Web relayed reports from Italy claiming that Juventus had agreed personal terms with Sarr and were discussing a €3m (£2.57m) loan fee, with a conditional obligation to buy potentially worth €30m (£25.6m).
Gianluca Di Marzio then provided an update, revealing that Juventus had ‘formalised’ their offer after the clubs reached an agreement in principle in the ‘last few hours’. However, the figures in the official proposal were lower than those discussed verbally (€3m loan fee with a €30m obligation to buy).
Juventus are offering Tottenham a €2m (£1.71m) loan fee alongside an obligation to buy worth €26m (£22.3m).
The obligation would only be triggered if Juventus qualify for the Champions League and Sarr plays at least 50% of their matches. That means the total package could reach €28m (£24m), although it remains conditional on both requirements being met.

Tottenham Hotspur have now officially confirmed Pape Matar Sarr’s loan move to Juventus for the 2026/27 season.
Should he end up leaving Spurs on a permanent deal next summer, Sarr leaves N17 with a unique legacy. After all, it was the Senegal midfielder who crossed the ball for Brennan Johnson to score the winner in the iconic 2025 Europa League final.
In the end, Sarr managed 141 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 11 goals and assisting another 11. If he does leave in 2027, Spurs will also turn a profit, having signed him for just under £15m in 2021.
