Tottenham vice-captain Archie Gray has become the subject of heavy transfer interest in the final hours of the transfer window.
The 20-year-old has started all of Tottenham’s first three matches at right-back, and he has been found wanting in that position.
A couple of days ago, it emerged that Brentford were exploring a late move for Gray, who they have admired for a long time.
In fact, the update explained that the youngster had even completed his medical with the Bees two years ago, before Tottenham hijacked the deal, and the West London club reignited their interest two years on.

This morning, The Sun revealed that an unnamed club had seen a late approach for Gray turned down by Tottenham, amid the youngster’s desire to play in midfield rather than right-back.
Alasdair Gold has now revealed that several clubs have enquired about the England U21 international, and all of them have been met with a firm no by the Lilywhites.
The journalist added that barring some surprise developments over the coming hours, Spurs are unlikely to consider loaning Gray out.
Gold wrote on X: “Understand a number of clubs have enquired about Archie Gray but have been met by a firm ‘not for sale’ by Spurs. A loan move unlikely, barring any late dramatic developments.”

While De Zerbi has maintained that Gray is good enough to go a job at right-back, we have seen very little evidence of that so far.
Tottenham have now reportedly agreed a deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea, and while the 28-year-old has been signed as a replacement for Kevin Danso, he is also capable of featuring at right-back.
It is thus possible that the former Fulham man may become Pedro Porro’s understudy, freeing up Gray to compete for a place in Spurs’ midfield.
