Manchester United are admirerers of Tottenham target Cody Gakpo, with the forward producing nine goals and six assists in 52 appearances last season.
Tottenham Hotspur have not been shy to lock horns with some of their so‑called big six rivals this summer in the transfer market.
Spurs went toe to toe with Manchester City and Arsenal in their pursuit of Sandro Tonali, beating both sides to his signature after agreeing a £100 million deal with Newcastle United.
A similar trick was on display in Spurs’ pursuit of Mateus Fernandes, with the Lilywhites beating United to a deal for the Portuguese, who sealed a record‑breaking £85 million move from West Ham to Tottenham.

Tottenham and Man Utd both keen on Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo
Spurs now have their attention turned to bolstering their attack and have a few players on their radar. Cody Gakpo remains a standout name, with Tottenham showing strong interest in landing the Liverpool man.
However, journalist Ben Jacobs, speaking in an interview with The United Stand, has now revealed that Tottenham are far from the only ones keen on Gakpo.
The journalist revealed that once again, Manchester United remain in the mix. He said: “He has always been somewhat appreciated, but we know that Man Utd and Liverpool just do not really do business.
“So, whether or not that could possibly get off the ground, I am not so sure.
“There are denials, despite recent reports in the Netherlands, that Gakpo has asked in any way, shape, or form to leave.
“So, Liverpool are quite calm about the situation, but Tottenham might consider that deal. And all we can say is Man Utd loved Gakpo before he joined Liverpool.
“If Gakpo specifically asks to leave Liverpool, then let us see whether Premier League clubs come forward. And it seems like Tottenham are the most concrete suitor.”
Romano backs Spurs’ Gakpo interest as Leao links dismissed
Fabrizio Romano’s latest report does back up Ben Jacobs’ update on Spurs and Gakpo. Romano recently revealed that the Liverpool man is one of Tottenham’s priorities for the left wing.
Gakpo is, of course, joined by Savinho, who is the top priority for Spurs.
However, Romano’s report did pour cold water on Rafael Leao links. The Italian stated that while Leao has been offered to Tottenham, the Lilywhites simply are not pursuing a move for the Portuguese.
Gakpo did manage a disappointing nine goals and six assists in 52 appearances last season, but showed fine form at the World Cup while away with the Netherlands, notching three goals and one assist in four games at the World Cup finals.
