TEAMtalk have now revealed that the representatives of Jean-Philippe Mateta have contacted Tottenham and another Premier League club over a potential late transfer.
The 29-year-old is into the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and is determined to seal an exit before the window slams shut.
With Spurs being long-time admirers of Mateta and with Man United also exploring options upfront, both clubs have been contacted by Mateta’s entourage.
It is revealed that the France international made a complaint to the Premier League tribunal and then to FIFA after Palace took up the option to activate a one-year extension to his deal, which was initially due to run out this summer.
Mateta missed two huge chances for the Eagles as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Everton on the opening day of the season, and his representatives are now working hard on ‘several possibilities’ for a late exit.
Palace remain firm in their stance over Mateta
Despite the former Mainz star’s contract situation and his demands to leave, Palace are adamant that they will not let him go in the final eight days of the window.
Pierre Sage’s men have informed Mateta that they are prepared to risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Sources close to the situation insist that just like the Marc Guehi situation last summer, Palace would be happy for the Frenchman to run into the final year of his contract unless there is a late offer which they deem suitable.
However, the website makes no mention of what kind of offer would be needed for the Eagles to change their mind and sell Mateta in the final days of the window.
