Chelsea are now leading the race for Bournemouth midfielder and Tottenham target Alex Scott, who has already found the net this season.
Tottenham Hotspur showed a keen interest in signing Alex Scott during the summer transfer window, but no move materialised.
The Cherries midfielder is a boyhood Tottenham fan and, despite Spurs spending a whopping £185 million on the signings of both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, they also had an eye on Scott, who has started this season brightly after impressing last campaign.
But Tottenham were not the only ones keen on Scott during the summer window, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all showing interest in signing the 23‑year‑old.
Spurs Web also revealed that Chelsea were Spurs’ biggest rival in the race for Scott, with the Blues sending in a £64 million bid for the Bournemouth man – an offer that was swiftly rejected.

The Cherries also looked to hand Scott a new deal in the summer, but the midfielder turned down the offer. However, during the winter window, interest in the England Under‑21 international is set to continue, according to TeamTalk.
The publication has revealed that Chelsea are in a strong position to land the Bournemouth midfielder, which is a blow for Tottenham.
The Blues are short in the middle of the park following a failed move to land Lamine Camara from AS Monaco and have had to deploy full‑back Malo Gusto in midfield this season.
They are now looking to address those concerns in January and want a Premier League‑ready option – a box Scott ticks perfectly.
Spurs unlikely to re‑enter race for Scott
The midfielder is also understood to be open to a move to the blue side of London as he looks to join a club with ambitions to compete in Europe.
However, Chelsea would have to cough up a significant fee if they are to land the Spurs target from Bournemouth, and the Blues are understood to be ready to meet Bournemouth’s demands as they prepare a bid.
As for Tottenham, they are not mentioned as re‑entering the race or even rivalling Chelsea for Scott’s signature. That could be down to how stacked the Lilywhites are in the middle of the pitch.
It is worth noting that Tottenham were at risk of losing Lucas Bergvall at some point in the summer transfer window, which led to reports linking the Lilywhites with midfield options. With that in mind, it is very unlikely Tottenham will make a move for Scott in January.
