Cody Gakpo is not the only Liverpool player Tottenham have explored a move for this summer, but the Reds have responded clearly.
According to various reports, Spurs have agreed personal terms with Gakpo, whose future at the Merseyside club is in major doubt as we enter the dying stages of the window.
Roberto De Zerbi remains confident that Gakpo will be a Tottenham player before the window slams shut, but the Lilywhites still have a lot of work to do to get the deal over the line.
However, it has now emerged that the Dutchman is not the only player that the North Londoners tried to prise away from Anfield this summer.

Tottenham explored move for Alexis Mac Allister but Liverpool will not sell
CaughtOffside have now claimed that Tottenham expressed an interest in Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister earlier this summer. The midfielder has subsequently also been the subject of enquiries from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City.
However, it is revealed that the former Brighton man has rejected all those approaches and that he never considered leaving the Merseyside club this summer.
Mac Allister has closed the door on an exit from Anfield, as have Liverpool, who have made it clear to Spurs and the Argentine’s other suitors that he is not for sale.
The 27-year-old is said to be eager to work with new head coach Andoni Iraola, and is expected to play a leading role in the Spaniard’s project.
Spurs could sell two central midfielders before the window shuts
A couple of Tottenham midfielders continue to face uncertain futures at the club as we approach the dying stages of the transfer window.
Spurs are reportedly prepared to sell Pape Sarr for £30m, amid interest from Premier League rivals, Bundesliga clubs, and Saudi Pro League outfits.
Meanwhile, some sources continue to suggest that Lucas Bergvall is continuing to explore a late move away from Tottenham, with the 20-year-old wanting a more prominent role elsewhere.
