Tottenham Hotspur are already stepping up plans to strengthen their attack in the January transfer window, and Geny Catamo could be their man.
While Spurs strengthened their attack with some big-name additions at the end of the summer window, Mykhailo Mudryk is now out for six to eight weeks with an injury, complicating matters for Roberto De Zerbi.
Tottenham are already without Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski and Xavi Simons, who are all recovering from long-term injury problems.
It emerged over the weekend that Spurs could turn to a 25-year-old Sporting Lisbon star, who has had an exceptional 2026 so far, and it turns out the Lilywhites’ interest in the player is serious.
Tottenham considering contacting Geny Catamo over January move
The player in question is Geny Catamo, who has already scored twice and provided three assists across seven matches this campaign.
Journalist Ekrem Konur, writing on Sportowy.net has backed up reports of Tottenham’s interest in the skilful and pacy winger ahead of the January window.
He says that the Lilywhites have monitored Catamo closely and are considering a move for him, although they are yet to make contact with Sporting Lisbon. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are now considering reaching out to the winger’s entourage to gauge his interest in a move to North London.
Spurs are not the only ones who have their eyes on Catamo, with the attacker also on the radar of Brighton, Brentford, Sunderland and Como.
Sporting’s asking price for Catamo revealed
Konur reveals that the Mozambique international’s current deal at Sporting runs until 2029 and has a release clause of €60m (£51.3m).
The Portuguese club are thus well protected, and with Catamo considered an important player, they are not in a hurry to sell.
The journalist adds that Tottenham need to make an offer of at least €40m (£34.2m) to bring Sporting to the negotiating table for the winger.
