Tottenham Hotspur fans have now shared their reaction to the latest Neco Williams links amid Djed Spence exit talks.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence has been subject to much transfer speculation in recent weeks.

Everton are understood to be interested in signing the Spurs star, although they are looking to do so on the cheap.

However, with Spence’s latest World Cup display, the general feeling amongst Tottenham fans is that the Evertonians should be willing to pay a substantial amount.

This comes after reports that Everton are looking to land Spence for £25 million.

Tottenham fans react as Spurs consider move for Neco Williams

Further reports in the last few days have gone on to claim that Spurs are now considering a move for Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams.

With Spence’s future in doubt and Williams linked, it does feel like it could well be a like-for-like swap.

Tottenham fans have got hold of the latest reports and have shared their reaction, with many left baffled by the latest claims.

One fan said: “I read this as Nico Williams from Bilbao not Neco Williams from Forest.”

Another added: “Any chance there is meant to be an i instead of the e in neco… please.”

A third could not understand the potential swap: “Replacing Djed with Neco Williams, are you taking the piss, Roberto? 😭.”

One other added: “Why did I get excited thinking this was the Spanish winger Nico Williams.”

A fifth fan made it clear that he is not one needed at the club at the moment: “He is a left back tho surely we do not need him.”

There were some positive responses still, with one fan stating: “I actually don’t mind Porro Neco as our RB options. I thought Archie would be the backup rb going into the season tho.”

Another added: “About time. GOOD PLAYER” Others, though, still were not keen, with one fan commenting: “A pointless signing. He’s not anything special either”

One more stated: “Replacing djed with an inferior player and inevitably letting Bergvall go in some stage of the same deal… this feels like it’s all gonna end terribly”

A final Tottenham fan was blunt in his reply: “Weird. Neco is not an upgrade on Djed.”

Spurs fans’ reaction justified as squad priorities lie elsewhere

The reaction from Tottenham fans is very much understandable given the needs of the Spurs squad at the moment. There are more pressing issues at the top end of the pitch, where Tottenham need to strengthen at left wing and centre-forward.

Spurs remain keen on that and have Cody Gakpo and Savinho as left-wing options, while Kroupi stands out as one for the centre-forward position.

But should Spence depart and attention be turned to Neco Williams, the underlying numbers do back up that he is a capable replacement with even better stats.
