There has been an update on Fiorentina’s stance regarding a permanent deal for Tottenham Hotspur winger Manor Solomon.

Fiorentina have a £8.7m option to buy Solomon permanently following his loan spell in Florence during the second half of the season.

The Israeli international’s spell in Italy was interrupted by injuries, but the winger certainly showcased glimpses of his quality in a Viola shirt.

It was suggested that Solomon was playing for his future at Fiorentina in the club’s final few league games, and it appears that the Serie A side have now drafted a plan for the player.

Fiorentina will ask Tottenham for a discount on Manor Solomon

Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now revealed that with Fabio Grosso coming in as Fiorentina’s new manager, the club are making plans to take the project forward.

While it is certain that Jack Harrison will return to Leeds after failing to impress on loan in Florence, things are not as clear in the case of Solomon.

It is revealed that Fiorentina will ask Spurs to offer a discount on the Israeli international. It is explained that the £8.7m option is considered too high for Fiorentina, who will make attempts to sign the player for a lower fee.

Why Spurs are likely to accept a discount fee for Solomon

Tottenham signed Solomon on a free transfer, which means that any fee from his sale will go down as pure profit in the club’s books.

That will be key for Spurs in giving them more room to manoeuvre regarding FFP, particularly as Tottenham embark on a major rebuild of their squad.

Vinai Venkatesham has already admitted that Spurs have to be better at selling players, and one would not expect the Lilywhites to haggle over the price for Solomon and allow the negotiations to drag on all summer.
