Tottenham ‘will listen to offers’ for midfielfer despite De Zerbi calling him ‘crucial’

Roberto De Zerbi may not have been completely truthful about the future of an experienced Tottenham Hotspur star.

Spurs have made big additions to their midfield, paying a combined £185m to land Matues Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

That has led to speculation over the futures of several of their midfielders, with Lucas Bergvall expected to depart Spurs before the new campaign gets underway.

It has now emerged that Bergvall may not be the only midfielder to exit N17 over the next few weeks, with another experienced player set to be sacrificed by the Lilywhites.

Tottenham will listen to offers for Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur is not part of Tottenham’s pre-season tour, even though Uruguay were knocked out in the group stage of the World Cup.

When asked about his absence, De Zerbi insisted that Bentancur is a ‘crucial player’ for Spurs, and that he had been granted an additional week of holiday due to his exertions last season.

However, Tottenham insider, Szyexcl, has now revealed on social media that the 28-year-old’s future is far from certain and that the Lilywhites are open to offers for the Uruguayan.

Szyexcl wrote on X about Bentancur: “They will listen to offers. future isn’t certain.”

Pape Sarr’s future at Spurs is also uncertain

De Zerbi had said on Sunday that Sarr had been given an additional week’s break as he was dealing with a personal issue, but the 23-year-old is another one who struggled for game time under the Italian last season.

Brentford and Napoli have both been credited with an interest in the Senegal international, who Spurs have allegedly put on the shop window.

However, journalist George Sessions suggested last week that Sarr may stay at Tottenham since no one is willing to pay a decent price for him this summer.
