Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Savinho is not proving as easy as the Lilywhites expected, after they held talks with Manchester City.
Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports over the past week suggesting that Tottenham had identified the Brazilian as their top winger target and were accelerating efforts to bring him to N17.
In fact, some sources went as far as to say that Spurs will tie up a £65m deal for the Man City man, and that is not all.
Savinho has repeatedly thrown hints that he is on his way to Tottenham this summer, but despite all these indications, the deal has not gone through yet, and it now appears to have hit a snag.
Tottenham’s negotiations with Man City on Savinho have stalled
According to a report in Globo Esporte, negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and City have now stalled. This is primarily because there is a difference in the two clubs’ valuations of Savinho, which they have been unable to bridge so far.
While the report does not specify how much Man City want for the Brazilian and how much Spurs want to pay, it is explained that the difference is such that negotiations have not been able to move further.
However, it is made clear that Spurs have not abandoned the operation and are still waiting to see if the conditions of the deal become more favourable.
Savinho has begun pre-season training at Man City
Globo Esporte say that due to the negotiations hitting a roadblock, the 22-year-old reported for pre-season training at City on Monday.
He is now working with new boss Enzo Maresca, who is finalising his plans for the squad ahead after replacing Pep Guardiola at the helm.
Spurs remain in contact with Man City and could revive negotiations at a later stage, with Savinho viewed by the Lilywhites as a player capable of ‘adding pace and creativity’ to their attack.
