‘What is wrong with us?’ – Tottenham fans react to Fabrizio Romano’s left wing revelation

Tottenham fans have now offered a mixed reaction after Fabrizio Romano poured cold water on Rafael Leao links.

In the last few weeks, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with left‑wing options as they aim to bolster their attack.

One name that has been in the headlines is Rafael Leao, who is reportedly looking to leave AC Milan after seven seasons with the Serie A side.

Reports suggested that Leao is open to a move to Tottenham and that Spurs have even held talks with Milan over a possible deal for the 27‑year‑old.

It was even claimed that Tottenham could land Leao for as little as £51 million despite his huge release clause.

Tottenham fans express frustration after latest Leao update

However, Romano revealed recently that while Leao has been offered to Tottenham, Spurs have no interest in signing him at the moment.

In fact, the journalist made it clear that for the wing position, two players are priorities: Cody Gakpo and Savinho.

This latest report has made its way to Spurs supporters, who have now taken to social media to share their reactions.

Many fans seem to understand why the club are not entirely keen on Leao, while others were left frustrated.

One Tottenham fan said: “Gakpo, probably a better fit, he can get some minutes in a more central role and open the wing for De Zerbi wing‑back style attacking.”

Another added: “Nahhhhh wtf is wrong with us.”

While one supporter understood the Savinho talk, there was also a call for a clinical forward: “Savinho is our No.1 left winger target 🎯 but I need someone else alongside him who is a goal threat. Then Kroupi as our striker.”

A fourth fan praised Roberto De Zerbi’s approach, stating: “Makes me respect De Zerbi even more, he knows what he wants, not gonna sign someone just cause he is a big name. A level of composure we are not used to seeing at Spurs.”

Another was not best pleased with the choice, commenting: “gakpo over Leao, oh my days!”

One Tottenham supporter was not convinced Leao would hit the ground running, stating: “I think optics say ‘get him he is unreal’ but something tells me he would come and be like another Kolo Muani. Big name and potential but not that bothered where or who he plays for.”

A final fan then added: “If he does not fit our playstyle then I understand, I wanted my Spurs to sign him but I understand the project, he is weak when it comes to pressing so I understand.”

Cody Gakpo and Rafael Leao stats compared

Of course, it is easy to understand the frustrations of several fans with the latest update. Leao does represent a big‑name player who could also be available at a relatively low price.

When comparing the asking price for the three players, Leao does feel like a bargain. Gakpo is currently valued at over £70 million, Savinho at £60 million, while Leao could cost as much as £51 million.

He too, just like Gakpo, is capable of playing as a centre‑forward, having begun his career at Sporting CP in that position.

Merely looking at their goal stats, Gakpo does, however, edge it, scoring significantly more goals than Leao so far in their respective careers.
