Richarlison’s failed move to Everton in the final days of the transfer window has put the Tottenham striker in a difficult position, and he faces the prospect of being on the sidelines for the next four months.
Richarlison unleashed a spectacular outburst on social media in the final days of the transfer window, insisting that he would not be forced to make a move he did not want to.
That came amid reports that Tottenham and Everton had agreed a double deal that would see Iliman Ndiaye and the Brazilian head in opposite directions, but those deals collapsed, with Ndiaye subsequently signing for Man City.
Subsequently, Roberto De Zerbi has insisted that the striker decided his future on his own, stating that the Brazilian had made his desire to leave the club clear since the start of the window.
Everton did not offer the personal terms Tottenham’s Richarlison was demanding
Football Insider have now confirmed a return to Everton was rejected by the 29-year-old as the wages on offer did not meet his demands.
Richarlison entered into negotiations with the Toffees in the final days of the window after a deal had been agreed between Tottenham and the Merseyside club.
However, there was no breakthrough in the discussions with the centre-forward, who decided to stay put at Spurs.
David Moyes’ men were unable to meet the striker’s salary demands, but it is revealed that the player was attracted by a move to Turkey, with Trabzonspor presenting a more lucrative offer than Everton.
However, the deal was not completed before the Turkish transfer deadline on July 4th, and with Richarlison having been left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad, he now potentially faces not playing any football until January.
Spurs could terminate Richarlison’s contract
Transfer windows in Saudi Arabia, Portugal and Brazil remain open, which means that there is still some chance that the Tottenham man could leave over the coming days.
However, his options are now significantly limited, with De Zerbi even remarking a few days ago that Richarlison failed to bring an offer despite repeatedly saying he wanted to leave through the summer window.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has even floated the possibility that Tottenham and Richarlison could mutually terminate their contract, thus freeing up the Brazilian to sign for any club as a free agent.
