Why Tottenham haven’t announced Andy Robertson or Marcos Senesi yet

We look at why Tottenham Hotspur have not announced the arrival of both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi despite reports of the deals being completed.

Tottenham Hotspur‘s 2025-26 season will surely have served as a major warning sign for the North London club, who came very close to losing their Premier League status.

Had it not been for Roberto De Zerbi, who guided Spurs to a 17th-place finish, two points above 18th-placed West Ham United, Tottenham could have been preparing for life in the English second tier.

However, with safety secured, attention has turned towards preparations for next season as Spurs look to avoid another disastrous campaign.

Tottenham explain Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson delay

The building blocks are already being put in place, with Spurs having secured a few summer signings.

Spurs Web has reported that both Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi and Liverpool’s Andy Robertson are set to join Tottenham as free agents this summer.

This comes after Spurs reached verbal agreements with the pair during the course of the 2025-26 season.

However, an official announcement has yet to be made by Tottenham, and Spurs Web can now reveal that it is because both Senesi and Robertson remain under contract with their respective clubs.

Their current contracts are not set to expire until 30 June 2026, meaning they would only be free to join Tottenham after that date, which is when Spurs can officially announce the deals.

The summer transfer window in England also does not open until June 15, which is another cause for delay.

Tottenham fans can therefore expect an official announcement sometime in July.

Spurs continue work on further transfer targets

Robertson and Senesi are not the only players Tottenham are looking to add to their squad this summer.

Spurs Web has also reported on Spurs’ renewed interest in Manchester City winger Savinho, a player they were keen on signing last summer.

Pep Guardiola blocked Tottenham’s £70m offer for Savinho at the time, but Man City are now willing to sell the 22-year-old.

Spurs Web have since reported that Savinho is available for a discounted fee, significantly lower than the £70m Tottenham were prepared to pay last summer.

The Brazilian winger could well be the one to come through the door at N17 if Spurs find success in their pursuit, with Newcastle United also lurking.
