Djed Spence will be back training with his Spurs teammates this week, but the defender could soon find himself at the centre of fresh transfer talks after Inter Milan revived their interest.
The Tottenham winger is expected to return to Hotspur Way this week after featuring in England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina, but he may not be there for long.
The English full-back is keen on leaving Spurs this summer amid concerns over his playing time, while Roberto De Zerbi has already admitted he would not try to convince Spence to stay if the player wants to move on.
Spence initially attracted interest from Inter Milan while he was away at the World Cup, but there have been no further developments from them since Tottenham’s asking price was considered ‘too high’.
The 25-year-old has also been offered to Liverpool and Manchester United in recent days, while Newcastle United are understood to be admirers of the defender. Now, though, there is a significant update on one of the clubs interested in him.
Djed Spence is attracting interest from Inter Milan
Speaking on his YouTube channel while discussing Inter Milan’s transfer strategy, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Spence, with his comments translated from Italian.
“Regarding Inter’s wing-back, I know there are some new developments today, but I would still keep one name in mind that we mentioned first more than a month ago, right in the middle of the World Cup, and that is Djed Spence.
“I mean, in terms of Inter’s preference, if Romero doesn’t arrive, as seems clear at the moment, because Inter have currently stepped away from the Romero deal, then the investment could potentially be directed towards a wing-back.
“And in that case, with djed Spence, the economic terms would have to change.”
Romano later provided another important update on X, explaining that Inter remain attentive and keen on Spence, but only ‘if spurs open doors in coming weeks’.
That will come as a relief to Tottenham supporters, as it suggests the club are not simply preparing to let the World Cup star leave without getting the deal they want.

Romano went on to explain exactly what he meant by the ‘economic terms’ needing to change, pointing to the huge impact Spence’s World Cup performances had on his valuation.
“Obviously, just after the World Cup, the World Cup is like the stock market, right?
“The price can change from morning to night. Spence had two or three outstanding games, so his price shot up, and at that point it became difficult for Inter, who, in the end, pulled out of the race.
“So, if over the next few weeks Spence’s price were to come down, or the terms were to become more reasonable, I wouldn’t rule out Inter making a return for Spence.
“But, I repeat, it depends on the terms of the deal.”
