A struggling Tottenham side host a struggling Aston Villa side on Saturday as both teams search for their first Premier League win of the season.
It is fair to say Roberto De Zerbi‘s Tottenham have not managed to shake off their relegation form from last season, carrying it into the new campaign as they remain without a win and without a goal in their first four Premier League games, despite spending close to £400m in the summer.
All six of the North London club’s goals this season have come in the Carabao Cup, which they unfortunately exited in the third round on Tuesday following a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Spurs were arguably the better side on the night, but poor finishing in front of goal denied them a first victory at Anfield in 16 years.
In the Premier League, they come into this one off the back of consecutive goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton, leaving them in a familiar 17th place in the table with just two points.
The visitors, likewise, have made a terrible start to the campaign, if not worse, as they have only half of Tottenham’s points tally, sitting 19th in the Premier League table and remaining winless.
However, Villa have lost more than they have gained in the summer transfer window, so their transition period is perhaps more understandable than Tottenham’s.
Unlike Spurs, however, they have managed to score a Premier League goal, which came in a late 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend. As for their Carabao Cup campaign, Villa advanced to the fourth round after beating Coventry City 3-1 midweek.

Tottenham team news
Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Pedro Porro and Sandro Tonali, both of whom missed the trip to Anfield through injury, are available to play, although he stopped short of confirming whether either player will start.
Dejan Kulusevski returned to full training again this week, but is unlikely to be included in the matchday squad until much later in the year.
The confirmed absentees are Mykhailo Mudryk, Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert.

Aston Villa will be without Marco Bizot, Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen, Leon Goretzka, Brian Madjo, Amadou Onana and Modou Keba Cisse.
Predicted Tottenham line-up
Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bergvall, Bentancur, Fernandes; Savio, Solanke, Marmoush.
De Zerbi used a completely different backline, apart from Destiny Udogie, in the midweek defeat to Liverpool, but he is likely to revert to his strongest defensive unit here.
If Porro is not deemed fully fit, Archie Gray could fill in at right-back. The same applies to Sandro Tonali and/or James Maddison being unlikely to start.
As for the attack, Mathys Tel has been consistently poor this season despite receiving regular opportunities, and we believe Marmoush will take up the left-wing spot instead.
Dominic Solanke will start, as Spurs will need a figure to stay in the box and meet the crosses that have been increasingly abundant late in matches this season.
Our Spurs score prediction
Spurs met Aston Villa three times in all competitions last season and lost all three, with each game ending in the same 2-1 scoreline. In fact, Tottenham have lost each of their last five games against Unai Emery’s side, but Spurs supporters will be hoping Roberto De Zerbi can finally put an end to that run.
Destiny Udogie could be the man to make the difference. The left-back might have had two well-earned assists against Liverpool had it not been for some really poor finishing in front of goal.
This will also be Spurs’ final game of the month, with a three-week international break following afterwards. Entering that break with another defeat would make for a very long three weeks. We are therefore backing De Zerbi’s men to finally get their first Premier League win.
