Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has now addressed the conversations around Spurs’ transfer spending this summer from rival fans and media.

It has been a busy transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur, who have secured seven new additions to their squad ahead of the 26-27 season.

Tottenham began their summer business with real intent after completing the signings of Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Martin Dubravka for a whopping 237 million pounds.

Just yesterday, Spurs added depth to their attack with the signing of Savinho for £85 million, taking their total spend this summer up to £322 million.

But with less than two weeks left before the summer window slams shut, it remains to be seen if any more new signings will be made.

Roberto De Zerbi addresses whether Tottenham will make further signings

The Tottenham boss, Roberto De Zerbi, who promised Spurs fans they would be happier come the end of the summer, will be pleased to have seen his club deliver on some of that promise with the latest addition of Savinho.

However, reports do claim that more signings are expected to come through the door despite Savinho’s latest move. Tottenham are believed to still be in the market for a winger and a striker.

After all this spending, the media, rival fans, and pundits have been shining a bright light on Tottenham’s transfer business. This comes despite the fact that Spurs have also recorded over £200m in sales.

When asked about the chatter, De Zerbi echoed one of Ange Postecoglou’s most famous quotes from his time in N17. ‘Spurs does crazy things to people’…

Speaking to football.london he said: “I heard too many times, Tottenham money, Tottenham money. I’ve loved football for a long time. I have seen all the teams that compete spend money. Maybe it’s a problem if Tottenham spend money in the Premier League.”

The head coach also opened up on whether there will be any more signings coming through the door in the final part of the transfer window.

He added: “We have not finished in the transfer market. It’s an important part. So far we have brought in some great players, great spirit and great personality. You know better than me you don’t win the games with big names and big players, you have to deserve to win the game. To do that we have to reach the level in character, intention and value and style of play.”

Spurs could still push for Marmoush as window enters final stretch

Omar Marmoush is another player who has been linked with a move to Tottenham as Spurs look to shop from Man City once more this summer.

Reports from earlier this week claimed that Tottenham were working on a double swoop for Savinho and Marmoush and with the Savinho deal done, Spurs’ focus is set to turn to the Egyptian.

In fact, a deal for the versatile forward might not be too far from being completed, with reports stating that Marmoush has agreed personal terms with Tottenham.
