Lucas Bergvall’s feelings have come to light after Tottenham turned down a big offer for the midfielder’s signature.

It has been widely reported over the last month that Bergvall wants to seek a new challenge away from Spurs after seeing the Lilywhites make some big-money midfield additions earlier this summer.

Tottenham first rejected a £38m offer from Nottingham Forest for the Sweden international, and Forest are now expected to return with a second offer.

Just a few days ago, it emerged that Newcastle’s £46m offer for the attacking midfielder was also sent back by Spurs.

Lucas Bergvall’s camp are surprised Tottenham rejected Newcastle’s offer

The Standard say that the 20-year-old is open to either moving to the City Ground or St James’ Park this summer.

In fact, there was some surprise in the midfielder’s camp when the Lilywhites refused Newcastle’s offer for the youngster.

The player’s representatives informed Tottenham a month ago that he wants a fresh challenge following two years in North London.

Bergvall sees himself as a number eight and is disappointed with the lack of opportunities in that position at Tottenham, particularly since Roberto De Zerbi replaced Igor Tudor at the helm.

Bergvall is hoping to seal Spurs’ departure before next week

While the attacking midfielder is attracting interest from around Europe, The Standard claims that his preference is to remain in the Premier League.

The outlet asserts that Bergvall would like an exit to be finalised before Spurs travel to New Zealand and Australia on their pre-season tour over the weekend.

However, the website makes it clear that there is no suggestion that the Sweden international would agitate for a move away from Tottenham.
