Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Neco Williams this summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to be one of the busiest sides for much of the summer transfer window. Spurs have already been involved in 10 pieces of business, purchasing six players and selling another four.
That has led to a spend of £237 million on new signings and £85.1 million in sales, resulting in a net spend of £151.9 million.
But interest remains in several Tottenham players, including Cristian Romero, Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall, just to name a few.
Spurs have also been linked with new additions, including Rafael Leao, Crysencio Summerville, Savinho, Eli Junior Kroupi and Cody Gakpo.

Tottenham dealt Neco Williams contract blow
Also on Tottenham’s radar is Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams. It was reported earlier in the week that Spurs had enquired about the Welshman.
This comes after reports of Inter Milan’s interest in Spence. No bids have been made by Tottenham at the moment, but a report from The Telegraph now claims that Forest are closing in on extending Williams’ contract.
Williams impressed last season and was named Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Season. Based on the statistics, Williams looks like a like-for-like replacement for Spence should the Englishman depart.
Spurs may need to look elsewhere if Spence departs
This is surely a big blow for Spurs, who could also lose Spence this summer with Inter Milan keen to get a deal done.
The Tottenham full-back has impressed at the World Cup this summer, and his displays have certainly caught the eye of the Nerazzurri.
It has since been revealed that talks between Inter and the Lilywhites regarding the full-back are now ongoing and that Spence is open to a move to Italy.
However, Spurs’ asking price is higher than what Inter are willing to offer for Spence. Tottenham may have to go back to the drawing board in their search for a replacement should Williams sign a new deal with Forest and the Englishman depart for Italy.
