Tottenham’s injury curse continues, with new signing Mykhailo Mudryk now having suffered an ankle injury.

Mudryk made his first competitive appearance in nearly two years when he came on as a substitute in Tottenham’s 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest.

After the game, Roberto De Zerbi admitted that the winger needs time to work up to his physical peak, but the 25-year-old’s progress has now been set back considerably.

The Ukrainian was spotted wearing a protective boot this week, and he was nowhere to be seen in training. The worst fears of Spurs fans have now been confirmed.

Mykhailo Mudryk could miss eight weeks of football for Tottenham

It emerged on Wednesday that Mudryk has suffered an ankle injury and would miss Tottenham’s next three matches.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the winger’s injury is much worse than previously thought.

The journalist claimed that the on-loan Chelsea man is expected to be on the treatment table for around six to eight weeks.

Romano wrote on X: “Mykhaylo Mudryk has suffered an injury and will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks from now. Tottenham signed Mudryk from Chelsea on Deadline Day, deal on loan with £75m buy option clause, not mandatory.”

There is huge pressure on Mathys Tel to deliver

Mathys Tel was criticised by De Zerbi for his decision-making against Forest, with the 20-year-old yet to show that he can deliver consistently at the Premier League level.

However, with Wilson Odobert out with an ACL injury and Mudryk now joining him in the treatment table, Tel is the only natural left-winger that the Tottenham boss has at his disposal.

The Frenchman has completed more dribbles than any other Premier League player so far this season, and Spurs fans will desperately be hoping he can add some end product to his game.
