Tottenham Hotspur may consider a surprise move for a former Paris Saint-Germain star, who faces an uncertain future at the French capital.

While Spurs are reportedly looking to add as many as three new attackers to their squad before the window slams shut, there continue to be murmurs about other potential additions as well.

Spurs Web has relayed updates suggesting that Tottenham are exploring right-back options to replace Djed Spence, who has completed a move to Inter Milan.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites could look to replace another one of the senior stars following his recent departure.

Tottenham are keeping an eye on PSG centre-back Illia Zabarnyi

TEAMtalk have now claimed that a departure from Paris is a ‘realistic possibility’ for Illia Zabarnyi before the window slams shut, and Spurs have emerged as a potential destination for the player.

The website claims to have heard from sources that Spurs expressed interest in the former Bournemouth man following the departure of Cristian Romero to Atletico Madrid.

It is explained, however, that while Roberto De Zerbi’s side have taken a close look at Zabarnyi, they have not made any serious contact with PSG over the centre-back.

It is also revealed that the 23-year-old, who left the Cherries for PSG in a £57m deal, is looking for regular first-team football rather than a peripheral role at his next club.

Spurs are unlikely to sign a centre-back

The fact that Zabarnyi is looking for a regular starting role almost certainly rules out a transfer to Spurs, who have four strong options at centre-back.

The Ukrainian is not the only central defender to be mooted as a target for the Lilywhites, with reports over recent days suggesting that Tottenham are also keeping an eye on Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

However, with Micky van de Ven and Marcos Senesi battling it out for the left centre-back role, Kevin Danso and Jan Paul van Hecke as options for the right side, and with Ben Davies also available to cover, it would make little sense for De Zerbi’s men to spend on another defender.
