Omar Marmoush may not be the only striker that arrives through the door at Tottenham Hotspur before the window slams shut.
Spurs have been working hard to add firepower to their forward line before the September 1 deadline after failing to score in their first game of the season.
Since that defeat to Brentford, Tottenham have signed both Savio and Omar Marmoush for a combined £145m, with the former already scoring on his debut against Charlton Athletic.
Marmoush’s arrival could spell the end of Richarlison’s time at Spurs, but the Lilywhites are exploring a move for another Ligue 1 centre-forward in the final stages of the window.
Tottenham eyeing late move for Monaco’s Folarin Balogun
Until a couple of weeks ago, Folarin Balogun was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, but the speculation linking the USA international with a move to N17 has since died down.
However, according to the print edition of L’Equipe (as relayed by Sport Witness), the Lilywhites’ interest in the Monaco star has not gone away despite Marmoush’s expected arrival at the club.
The report says that Tottenham continue to keep an eye on the situation of Balogun, who has been struggling with a minor physical problem, forcing him to miss two matches this season.
The former Arsenal striker has not been training with his teammates over recent days as the Ligue 1 club do not want to risk an injury that jeopardises a late sale.
Monaco are keen to cash in on Balogun
Tottenham are not the only ones interested in the 25-year-old, with L’Equipe asserting that Aston Villa and Barcelona are also circling around the player.
It is revealed that Monaco have already invested €30m (£25.7m) on Matthis Abline, who will be Balogun’s successor and are thus keen to cash in on the Tottenham target.
In fact, the French club have to sell the centre-forward to make further signings in the final days of the window due to their difficult financial situation.
Interestingly, Monaco are also in talks over a potential deal for Tottenham’s Pape Sarr, and the Senegal midfielder has even agreed personal terms with the French club. Could we see a swap deal there?
