Tottenham’s injury list is down to single figures, with potentially just two or three players set to miss the clash against Nottingham Forest.

With the summer transfer window now slammed shut, attention is set to turn to the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lilywhites have endured a disappointing start to the season after suffering two defeats in their opening two Premier League matches.

Brentford beat Roberto De Zerbi’s side 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium, before Newcastle United rocked up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and compounded Tottenham’s misery further with a 2-0 win.

Up next for Tottenham is Nottingham Forest, who sit 15th after managing a single point from their opening two league games.

Tottenham injury update ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Ahead of this weekend’s clash against Forest, Roberto De Zerbi has fewer injuries to worry about. At the start of the season, more than five Spurs players found themselves sidelined and out of contention, but that number has reduced significantly.

Savio missed out against Newcastle last time out because of a muscle problem, but he should be back in contention this Saturday, with De Zerbi himself confirming it.

Speaking about the winger before Tottenham took to the pitch against Newcastle United, the Spurs boss said: “There was bad news yesterday, before training in the afternoon. He suffered muscle fatigue and the medical staff did not want to take a risk. I agree with them.”

The Tottenham boss did confirm that Savio will be available to face Forest next week.

Maddison, Kulusevski and Kudus boost as Spurs look to recover

Savio, however, is not the only one who could return this weekend. James Maddison suffered a shoulder injury in the clash against Brentford, but De Zerbi hinted that the midfielder could have been involved last week against Newcastle United, despite reports claiming that Maddison was set to be out for two weeks.

However, it remains to be seen if the Englishman will be able to make a return in time for this weekend’s game against Forest.

De Zerbi was also handed a big boost in the Newcastle game when Mohammed Kudus made a long-awaited return to action, with the Ghana international coming off the bench and getting a solid 22 minutes of football into his legs.

Dejan Kulusevski might not be too far from a return either, with the Swede now back in first-team training. De Zerbi even recently hinted that Kulusevski could be included in his Spurs Premier League squad this season.

That leaves Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert as the Lilywhites’ long-term absentees. Odobert is expected to make a return in the coming months, while Simons is expected to return early next year.
