Tottenham working on loan move for Kota Takai
According to football.london, Spurs are understood to be working on a loan move for Japan centre-back Kota Takai.
The 21-year-old joined Tottenham last summer and was loaned out during the winter window to Borussia Mönchengladbach. However, injuries prevented Takai from getting enough game time while in Germany.
Spurs are now looking to loan the centre-back to Belgian side STVV, who have Japanese owners and a history of working with Japanese players.
Takai move adds to ongoing Spurs defensive overhaul
With Takai working on a loan move, the Tottenham backline continues to undergo major surgery.
This summer alone, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario and Djed Spence have departed after being a big part of the Spurs defence in the last two seasons.
Danso could also move on this summer, while Spurs are working to get Tosin Adarabioyo as his replacement.
Takai could well have filled in for the departing Danso, but it seems Tottenham are not convinced he is ready for the step up.
Of course, Vuskovic was one young centre-back to have been sent to the Belgian League, and Spurs will be hoping Takai can find similar success as the Croat.
