Tottenham Hotspur may already be regretting their decision to sell Will Lankshear as the striker announced himself to Middlesbrough fans in dramatic fashion.
After his excellent campaign on loan at Oxford United last term, many felt that Lankshear could be used as Tottenham’s third-choice striker by Roberto De Zerbi for the upcoming season.
However, Spurs decided to sell the centre-forward to Middlesbrough for £20m, including add-ons, which came as a surprise to the supporters.
In fact, many Tottenham fans feel the club made a huge mistake by letting Lankshear go, and the 21-year-old is already showing why that was the case.

Boro kicked off their Championship campaign with a clash at home against Lincoln City, and the home side did not have the best of starts to the encounter.
Adam Reach gave Lincoln the lead on 12 minutes, and that is how the score stayed until the interval, with a big upset appearing to be on the cards.
However, Lankshear’s second-half brace, which included a stoppage-time winner, spared Boro’s blushes and ensured that the title contenders got their campaign off to a winning start.

Far from having regrets about the striker’s impressive start to life in the North East, Tottenham officials will be pleased about it.
This is because the Lilywhites could earn £6m in add-ons from Lankshear’s sale if the striker fulfils some performance metrics. Additionally, some sources have claimed that Spurs retain a big sell-on clause for the 21-year-old.
That means the Tottenham academy graduate could still bring plenty of money into the Lilywhites’ coffers over the next few years.
