It was long reported that Tottenham were looking to sign Tosin on loan, but now things appear to have changed due to interest in another Chelsea player.
Spurs’ pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk, who they also want to sign on loan, now means they can no longer push for the loan signing of Tosin.
This is because Premier League loan rules do not allow clubs to sign more than one player on loan from the same Premier League team.
Due to this rule, Spurs are now looking to sign Tosin permanently, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist wrote on X: “Tottenham are ready to buy Tosin on a permanent deal from Chelsea if they can also get Mudryk loan deal done.
“Initial enquiry for Tosin loan but moving onto permanent deal after #THFC ask for Mudryk due to Ndiaye deal complications + only 1 loan allowed.”
Why Spurs see Tosin as an important addition
Tosin is definitely a solid squad option for Tottenham to have heading into the rest of the Premier League season.
The 28-year-old will arrive with a wealth of experience in the English top flight after making 116 Premier League appearances throughout his career.
Danso’s departure is set to leave Jan Paul van Hecke as the only recognised right-footed centre-back, but the signing of Tosin should address those concerns.
