Tottenham Hotspur have finally sanctioned Mikey Moore’s loan move to the Bundesliga, after having rejected permanent offers for the winger this summer.
It has been an excellent transfer window for Tottenham so far, with close to £400m spent on eight new arrivals and a ninth one seemingly on the brink, with Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye having already agreed personal terms with Spurs.
That investment has not yet translated into the results Tottenham would have wanted on the pitch, with De Zerbi’s side losing both of their Premier League fixtures against Brentford and Newcastle United.
There has at least been one positive result between those two defeats, when Spurs put five past Championship side Charlton Athletic in the second round of the Carabao Cup midweek.
£85m summer signing Savio understandably took much of the attention after scoring and assisting with just 11 touches on his Tottenham debut, but there was also another youngster who made his mark in the victory. Mikey Moore opened the scoring with a superb finish from his weaker foot.
With the transfer deadline now less than 48 hours away, Tottenham will soon have to make a decision on the youngster’s future.
FC Koln were ‘ringing every day’ for Tottenham’s Mikey Moore
Bundesliga side FC Koln reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham earlier in the summer over a loan move for Moore, but De Zerbi had halted the transfer as he was reluctant to let him leave before further attacking reinforcements arrived.
The 19-year-old has even featured in all three of Spurs’ games this season, but with Savio, Omar Marmoush, and potentially Iliman Ndiaye now arriving, the situation could change.
According to Football Insider, FC Koln were “ringing every day” in an attempt to convince Tottenham to sanction a loan deal for Moore before the September 1 deadline.
The Tottenham academy graduate has attracted interest from several clubs this summer, including Middlesbrough, Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg, but Koln were always the clear frontrunners. Tottenham even rejected a £26m bid for Moore earlier this summer.
Fabrizio Romano gave Moore’s loan to FC Koln his ‘here we go’ seal of approval on Monday morning.

Tottenham have now officially confirmed that Moore has joined FC Koln on a season-long loan, despite featuring in the first three games of the season.
Spurs fans will keep an eager eye on the Bundesliga to see whether Moore can recreate his Rangers magic over in Germany.
De Zerbi admitted after Moore’s impressive performance against Charlton that he would like to keep the academy graduate at Tottenham, but a loan is clearly the best choice for his development.
Asked how important the game was for Moore, the Italian said: “It is important for him, it is important for us because he is our player from the academy and in this day we have to understand what the best solution is for him, for us because I would like to keep him because he is young but a good player.
“But we can’t (make) the wrong decision because anyway he needs to play and put games inside of him. With Johan Lange and Vinai we have to find the best solution.”
