Tottenham Hotspur may soon have an opportunity to offload Guglielmo Vicario despite Inter Milan pulling out of the race for the goalkeeper.

Tottenham have begun scouring the market for a new goalkeeper, with the Lilywhites seemingly set to replace Vicario, who found himself being displaced in the starting eleven by Antonin Kinsky in the final few games of last season.

Inter Milan have now pulled out of the race for the Spurs goalkeeper after initially making an approach for the Italy international.

Juventus has been mooted as a destination for Vicario, but the Tottenham man does not appear to be their top target, with reports suggesting the Bianconeri prefer to sign Emiliano Martinez over the Spurs man.

What Juventus are now thinking about Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario

Gianluca Di Marzio now reveals on his official website that a move to Turin is still very much on the cards for the 29-year-old Tottenham star.

In fact, Di Marzio states that Vicario’s availability is ‘threatening’ Martinez’s move to the Allianz Stadium, with the Serie A giants evaluating both the Spurs and Aston Villa goalkeepers.

The journalist explains that Vicario would be the cheaper option salary-wise compared to the Argentine, but the former Empoli star will command a higher transfer fee.

Contacts are continuing between Juve and Martinez, with the Italian club still waiting to find out the World Cup winner’s salary demands.

Another Serie A club could enter race for Vicario

According to some sources, Vicario is expected to cost around £8m more than Martinez, which is a significant financial difference for Juventus.

It has been suggested over the last few days that Napoli are also considering joining the race for the Tottenham number one.

Vicario is thought to be very highly regarded among the Partenopei hierarchy, but any move is expected to hinge on the departure of Alex Meret from Naples.
