The 29-year-old was an unused substitute in Tottenham’s 5-1 win over Charlton on Wednesday, and he has seen competition for places intensify, with Omar Marmoush arriving through the door on Thursday.
Reports indicate that Marmoush’s arrival could open the door for Richarlison’s exit from Hotspur Way, with the Egypt international expected to compete with Dominic Solanke for the number nine role.
After the Spurs striker missed out on a place in the squad to face Newcastle on Saturday, De Zerbi confirmed that Richarlison has asked to leave N17.
Journalist claims Tottenham star Richarlison could move to Al-Ahli
Reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Everton have been in regular contact with Tottenham regarding Richarlison.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has now revealed that the Toffees’ interest in the striker is not advanced at the moment, and suggested that Al-Ahli could be a potential destination for the Spurs man.
Jacobs said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “Keep an eye on Saudi and THFC’s Richarlison more broadly, potentially Al-Ahli, but there might be other clubs as well, and that could happen quite late in the window.”
Spurs are under no pressure to sell Richarlison despite contract situation
The centre-forward has only a year left on his contract, and it was initially assumed that Spurs would have to cash in on him this summer.
However, Alasdair Gold revealed last week that Tottenham have a one-year extension option in Richarlison’s contract, which, if activated, could tie him up until 2028.
The Lilywhites are thus not under pressure to sell the striker, and some sources have even suggested that Spurs would demand close to £40m for the Brazilian.
