Tottenham Hotspur have changed their mind on Lucas Bergvall, much to the delight of one of the midfielder’s suitors.

Nottingham Forest failed with a £38m offer for Bergvall, which was immediately sent back by Tottenham, who have also subsequently rejected an even bigger bid for the midfielder.

The second offer came from Newcastle United, who put £46m on the table for the Sweden international, but that too was not enough to clinch a deal.

Some Spurs fans do not want to see the 20-year-old leave, given the promise he has shown in his two seasons at the club, and those supporters will not like hearing how the Lilywhites’ stance on the player has evolved.

Tottenham have done a U-turn on Lucas Bergvall as club eye second offer

Football Insider claims to have heard from sources at Spurs that the club have done a U-turn on the former Djurgarden starlet.

The report explains that Tottenham’s initial stance was that Bergvall was not for sale under any circumstances this summer.

However, due to the midfielder’s repeated insistence on leaving, the North Londoners have now reluctantly changed their mind and are ready to cash in on him.

This has encouraged Forest, who are now expected to return with an improved offer for the Tottenham starlet in the hope of clinching the deal.

Contradictory claims made about Newcastle’s interest in Bergvall

Some sources have said that Newcastle could walk away from a deal for Bergvall after their initial bid was turned down as they find Tottenham’s valuation to be excessive.

However, on Sunday, journalist Nicolo Schira claimed that the Magpies do intend to return with a second offer for the Spurs midfielder, and could put as much as €60m (£51m) on the table for the player.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has said on his YouTube channel that both Forest and Newcastle continue to remain locked in talks with Tottenham over Bergvall.
