Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on their first major outgoing of the summer transfer window, with a big-money deal on the verge of completion following their £85m spending spree.
Tottenham Hotspur certainly have their eyes fixed on improving their squad and have been moving with great ambition so far in the summer transfer window.
However, those ambitions have had a knock-on effect on some of the youngsters they acquired in recent seasons.
In the last few weeks, reports have claimed that Lucas Bergvall has requested to leave Spurs, while Luka Vuskovic has attracted interest from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Vuskovic was even said to have agreed personal terms with the Seagulls as he seeks a move in search of more game time.
Tottenham agree deal with Brighton for Luka Vuskovic
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has now been reached between Tottenham and Brighton for Vuskovic.
The 19-year-old Croat, currently away with Croatia at the World Cup, has yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham since being signed back in 2023.
However, a stellar campaign while out on loan with Hamburg has only enhanced his reputation as one of football’s hottest rising stars.
Tottenham’s purchase of Jan Paul van Hecke appears to have triggered Brighton’s move for the teenager, and now a £50m deal has been agreed after a series of back-and-forth between the two sides.
Tottenham are expected to receive an initial fee of £46m, with add-ons potentially taking the total package to over £50m. Spurs will also retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause as well as matching rights for any potential future sale.
Romano’s report reads: “Brighton agree deal to sign Luka Vušković from Tottenham, here we go! £46m fixed fee plus sell-on clause to bring the potential package over £50m. Massive signing for #BHAFC after personal terms also agreed. Spurs ready to go ALL IN for Sandro Tonali.”
Spurs could face another transfer battle over Archie Gray
Tottenham were always bound to let go of certain players as they look to bolster their squad this summer ahead of next season.
A shift in approach, with more experienced players now being signed, has left opportunities for younger talents increasingly at risk.
Spurs could soon face another Vuskovic-type situation as they pursue Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United.
A deal for the Magpies midfielder appears to be close, and that has prompted Newcastle to put in a bid for Archie Gray of Spurs.
However, their initial offer was turned down, with Tottenham said to be maintaining a firm stance.
