Tottenham Hotspur could land a striker who impressed at this summer’s World Cup on a discount, as they continue to scour the market for attacking reinforcements.
With just three weeks left in the transfer window, Spurs are now in a race against time to put finishing touches to their squad.
Roberto De Zerbi expects multiple forwards to arrive through the door before the window slams shut, but the Lilywhites do not appear to be close to finalising any deal.
There is a big question mark over whether Tottenham will sign a new striker, but they have been handed an opportunity to sign a 25-year-old for a cut-price fee.
Tottenham can land Monaco’s Folarin Balogun on a discount
It was reported by The Sun last week that Spurs have been offered the chance to sign Folarin Balogun, who came through the Arsenal academy and made two senior appearances for the Gunners before moving to Monaco in 2023.
Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that the striker, who scored three times for the USA at the World Cup, is available for a modest fee this summer as he has just two years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 club.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Tottenham, as we’ve mentioned previously, are looking to bolster their attacking reinforcements and bring more players in.
“Balogun could be one who could be available and relatively cheap, because he’s only got two years left on his contract, so I don’t think Monaco would be demanding too big a fee for the USA striker.
“He’s not the only forward on Tottenham’s radar. I don’t think there’s anything too imminent on a possible move for him as well. He’s just one of those players that’s on the radar for Tottenham; there’s nothing advanced on it.”
Which other strikers are on Spurs’ radar?
Since the injury to Eli Junior Kroupi, some sources have said that Spurs have identified Fisnik Asllani and Nicolo Tresoldi as possible alternatives.
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimehna has also been mooted as a target for Tottenham, with the Nigerian thought to be keen on a Premier League move.
However, Spurs now look unlikely to sign Ferran Torres, with Paris Saint-Germain now working to finalise a deal for the Spain international.
