Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a potential Cristian Romero departure this summer transfer window and one Premier League defender has been identified as his replacement.
Ahead of the 2026-27 season, Tottenham Hotspur have began taking steps to bolster their defensive ranks.
Spurs managed just nine clean sheets last campaign and conceded a whopping 57 goals, with only West Ham, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley conceding more.
Marcos Senesi has since been identified as one of the players expected to come in and help Tottenham tighten things at the back.
A verbal agreement between Tottenham and Senesi has been reached, with a four-year deal also in place.
Spurs Web has since revealed that official confirmation could come sometime in July for both Robertson and Senesi, who have been signed as free agents.

Tottenham identify Jan Paul van Hecke as Cristian Romero’s replacement
However, Tottenham also risk losing one of their top players in Cristian Romero. The Argentine has been subject to much transfer speculation, with all three Spanish giants keen on landing Romero this summer.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid are all said to be interested, although Spurs are looking for a £60m fee.
According to The Athletic, there is now understood to be a strong chance that Cristian Romero departs north London this summer amid interest from Spain.
However, it is not all gloom for Tottenham, as Spurs are said to have lined up a replacement should the World Cup winner depart.
It is explained that Jan Paul van Hecke is on the list of potential replacements should Romero leave N17.
Spurs could benefit from Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton connection
Both Van Hecke and Roberto De Zerbi have some history, having worked together during the Italian’s spell at Brighton.
Spurs Web has since revealed that De Zerbi’s Brighton connection could give Tottenham an edge in the race for Van Hecke, with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool also interested.
We also revealed that the Italian’s Brighton links could help Tottenham in their pursuit of Bart Verbruggen, as Spurs might be in the market for a new goalkeeper.
