Alasdair Gold has reacted to suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
Spurs were 24 hours away from making a big offer for Eli Junior Kroupi before the Frenchman suffered an injury last week, forcing the Lilywhites to scour the market for alternative strikers.
Nicolo Tresoldi, Fisnik Asllani and Ferran Torres have been mooted as potential targets for Tottenham, as Roberto De Zerbi attempts to add goals to his frontline.
Even names like Victor Osimhen have been linked with a move to Spurs, and over the last few hours, a Chelsea star has been mentioned as a target.
Tottenham are not interested in Nicolas Jackson
A few hours ago, The Sun revealed that the Lilywhites have expressed an interest in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who is back at the West London club after struggling to make an impact on loan at Bayern Munich last campaign.
The outlet claimed that the 25-year-old Spurs target is valued at £65m by the Blues, and is also on Aston Villa’s radar.
However, Alasdair Gold has now moved to shut down the rumours, insisting that De Zerbi’s men are not expected to explore a deal for the Senegal international.
Gold wrote on X: “Spurs not expected to explore any move for Nicolas Jackson.”
Spurs fans will be relieved with the Jackson update
Many Tottenham fans on social media are distinctly unimpressed with the idea of signing Jackson, and would thus be relieved by Gold’s update.
The sentiment of the supporters is understandable, as the 25-year-old is yet to show that he can consistently score goals at the highest level.
De Zerbi has said that replacing Richarlison with another reliable goalscorer will not be easy, and one can argue Spurs may be better off hanging on to the Brazilian than spending £65m on the Chelsea man.
