A Tottenham youngster snubbed a move to Borussia Dortmund in favour of joining another club on loan in the latter stages of the transfer window.
Spurs have 17 players out on loan at the moment, and while many are in the EFL, some are dotted around the European leagues.
That includes one teenager, who featured in all of Tottenham’s first three Premier League games of the campaign, and has been tipped for big things in the future.
This is a player whom Roberto De Zerbi admitted that he would prefer to keep at Spurs, but acknowledged that a loan would be the best move for his development.
Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore snubbed Borussia Dortmund move in favour of joining Koln
Many of you would have already guessed that we are talking about Mikey Moore, who has completed a straight loan move to Koln, without a purchase option.
It was reported earlier this summer that Tottenham even rejected a £26m bid for Moore, and some sources indicated that Borussia Dortmund made contact with the Spurs academy graduate.
Koln Managing Director Thomas Kessler has now confirmed that the Bundesliga giants did indeed try to sign the 19-year-old, but the player always had his heart set on a move to RheinEnergieStadion.
When asked if Koln beat Dortmund to Moore’s signature, Kessler told Fussball Transfers: “I’m not familiar with Borussia’s squad planning – except for one player, and he’s still with us. But he was clear about his intentions the whole time and wanted to come to Cologne. Mikey kept his word. The talks went well. We’re happy he’s here now.”
Moore makes immediate impact on his Koln debut
The young attacker came on as a half-time substitute for Koln on Friday in their 4-1 loss to Stuttgart, even though he had only arrived at the club a couple of days prior.
Moore picked up an assist and had multiple shots on goal in his Koln debut, proving to be by far the club’s best attacker on show.
Interestingly, manager Rene Wagner played the youngster as a number 10 rather than on the wing, and Tottenham officials will keep a keen eye on the youngster to see if he can thrive centrally this season.
