Tottenham Hotspur have now completed their third signing of the summer transfer window as the Lewis family looks to deliver on “all in” promise.
Roberto De Zerbi is certainly reaping the rewards of his labour after helping keep Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last season.
After dismal spells under Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, the Italian came in and turned Spurs’ fortunes around, helping secure 11 points from a possible 21, which was enough to ensure their Premier League safety.
Work is now being done to rebuild the squad and, thus far this summer transfer window, Tottenham have been moving with real intent.
Both Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have since joined on free transfers, but the expectation is that more money is set to be spent.
Tottenham complete Jan Paul van Hecke transfer
The first portion of that outlay has now gone, with Tottenham confirming the signing of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Dutch centre-back has long been on the radar of the Lilywhites, who had several bids rejected before finally reaching an agreement.
However, the final offer has now been accepted and Tottenham have finally got their man after the Seagulls agreed to a £52m fee.
Van Hecke remains at the World Cup with the Netherlands and should link up with Tottenham later during their pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Spurs Web has reported that Tottenham could spend as much as £130m in the coming weeks of this summer transfer window, a figure that could still rise.
Spurs could still make more signings after van Hecke deal
More incomings could well be expected as the Lewis family look to honour their ‘all in’ promise to Spurs fans this summer.
Tottenham have still been linked with even more exciting options, with both Savinho and Sandro Tonali among the players on their radar.
However, if deals are to be reached for those players, Spurs would face a significant outlay, with Tonali valued at about £100m and Savinho valued at £60m.
